Kyd & Kango - High Above Album

Wickedly marvelous deep house from Kyd & Kango. The title track from HIGH ABOVE has a disco horn section that's catchy as all hell. "The Jazzcafe" does indeed have a jazzy piano breakdown towards the middle, as well as some atmospheric crowd noise from a cafe, while "Barakan" has tribal rhythm drums and some ethnic string plucking. The disco comes back with a vengeance in "This Is the Way," with its vocal sample complemented by the driving beat. "Good Vibrations" and "Bugi" continue the disco takeover, using samples without letting them become too annoying. Finally, "Ekko Ekko" is a more dubwise house track with some African vocal samples. Though the tracks go on a little too long for repeated home listening (though nonetheless enjoyable), they work wonders on the dancefloor.
