I have this disc which I ordered brand new from a record shop in my home town of Lowestoft (England), when I was going through a phase of buying everything on the Factory record label. I managed to get a list of all Factory releases, and this was one of them. I ordered it without ever having heard of the artist.
When I got it home and played it the first time I was more than impressed, as it continued the unique sound of Minny Pops that I had heard on their other (easily available) release, Secret Story, which I had acquired from a friend.
This release actually instigated me to try and find any albums by the artist. But apart from a record store in Sudbury, who had a copy of "Sparks in a dark room" (which I never managed to purchase), I never really found out much more about them. In fact, it wasn't until I found out about this site that I knew they had made more than one album. I think I will retry my search for the albums, just for old times sake.
Anyway, Dolphin Spurt is still one of my favourite singles purchased from my youth. When I play it now, the volume goes right up straight away. The B side is equally as good.
A highly recommended piece of vinyl from an unusual band.
